Toolbars Palettes & Windows
The PaintShopPro 7 workspace offers five toolbars, four palettes, two windows and a status bar. Which you choose to have visible at any one time depends on the tasks you are performing and your own work habits. Most people will have the Standard Toolbar and the Tool and Color Palettes visible most of the time. The usual position is the Color Palette on the right of the workspace, the Tool Palette on the left of the workspace and the Standard Toolbar across the top, all docked in place.
The Toolbar Dialog box to the right is accessed by going to View on the menubar and choosing Toolbars from the bottom of the menu. The size/shape of floating bars and palettes may be altered by hovering the mouse over the edge until you have the double headed arrow and then resizing (shown on the Effects Toolbar page). If you are not sure what a button is for, let your mouse hover over it for a minute and the function will popup.
With the apparent exception of the Status Bar, all of these can be moved around free-floating in your workspace or docked on any edge you wish. The Toolbars may also be customized although we suggest you not customize much until you have worked in PSP for a while so that the various tutorials available will be a bit easier to follow. Again, with the exception of the status bar, there are keyboard shortcuts to putting them on and off the workspace. The TAB key will remove and restore all current floating bars and palettes from your workspace, individual keyboard shortcuts are given in the listings below.
