Preset Shapes ...more
There are no major changes from in Preset Shapes for beta 3:
Retain Style
In beta 2, checking the Retain Style box did not always get consistent results. The concept is actually quite simple... with the box checked as in the first image below, the shape takes it's natural color, texture, etc. With the box unchecked, it takes it's color and texture from the color swatches as in the second image below. In beta 2, one could sometimes get the color swatch style with the Retain Styles box checked.
Spiffy new shapes including these buttons,
a sampling of which are shown used in the image below:
Cutting down on shape preloading
When you open the Preset Shapes Tool, all the shapes prelod into the options. If there are any shape sets you don't expect to use, you can eliminate them from the process. Go to the directory where PSP7 installed itself and locate the subdirectory Shapes (upper arrow).
If you look at the files in that directory, you will find .jsl files. These are the sets of shapes used in the Preset Shapes Tool. You can browse these with the PSP browser view to see which sets you actually don't want think you will use.
For myself, I don't think I will need the Transportation or People Shapes but, just in case someday I might want them, I didn't delete them. I created another directory, unusedshapes (lower arrow) and moved the Transportation.jsl and People.jsl files into it.
PS: I am sure there will soon be plenty of shapes files just as there are tubes and brushes <grin>
