title: imagehelp    seamless
        background
               tile

The background tile on this page was made in PaintShopPro 5. First, a new image size 100x100 was opened with a white background. Then wide brush strokes using a cloud pattern and medium to low density were used to cover the image area. A few strokes with the airbrush in a slightly darker shade were then added. Afterwards there was a bit of tweaking and tinkering with brightness, contrast, hue and shade until I liked the overall shading and softness.

Canvas Size Dialog BoxI selected copy from the edit menu to put the image on the clipboard and then increased the canvas size of the image to 200 by 200 with top and left set at 0.

Next I chose "paste as new selection" from the Edit Menu and carefully placed the selection in the right top corner at 100,0 (these coordinate numbers are in the lower left of your program window) and then chose mirror from the Image Menu.

Again, choose "paste as new selection", placing this one carefully in the lower left quadrant of the image at 0,100. This time I flipped the image from the Image Menu.

A final "paste as new selection" placed at 100,100 and flipped AND mirrored. POOF! you have a seamless tile of your own design and coloring.

I made the title lettering for this page by using the eyedropper to pick the main color in the background tile and then, in the color dialog box, chose a darker shade. On a new image with a white background, I placed my text, used cutout from the Image Menu and then made white the transparent color and cropped to fit the text closely.
